 Chapel of St Ledger

The Chapel of St Ledger was incorporated into the newly   built bridge in 1426. Chapel bridges were common in   medieval times where travellers could pray for a safe     journey and also pay a toll.

  It was restored in 1930.

Other remaining chapel bridges are at
  ROTHERHAM, West Riding.
