St Cuthbert's Well at Uckerby was a healing spring and known as Cuddykeld. It became a popular spa in the 19th century and was covered with a pyramidal roof, originally stone slated, with a carved oak apex cross. Steps lead to a keyhole shaped basin rather like a plunge pool.
It has recently been restored.
