Monk Bretton Tower

The observatory tower at Monk Bretton was demolished in 1960 by Barnsley Council. It was built by Reverend Wordsworth 'for the purpose of study' in the 19th century and it is known as Wordsworth's Folly.
It was used for lighting beacons on occasions such as royal weddings and at the end of wars.
