HOYLAND, West Riding

Hoyland Lowe Stand                                       SE 363 009

Picture
Hoyland Lowe Stand was built in about 1750 for Thomas Watson-Wentworth, the 1st Marquis of Rockingham, as a hunting tower for Tankersley and Wentworth parks.

Lady's Tower is thought to have been built at the same time but there is no trace of it.
