Beggar's Bridge is a packhorse bridge with a datestone of 1619 and the coat of arms of Thomas Ferris.
The son of a Glaisdale farmer, Thomas Ferris went away to make his fortune and returned to marry the daughter of a local squire. Thomas was made sheriff and also became the Mayor of Hull. He built the bridge as a memorial to his wife, Agnes. |
